Surviving a Pandemic Without Panicking: COVID 19 Edition

PART 1:

Well hello everyone and welcome back to my channel. (I’ve always wanted to say that.) I think we can officially say the world has entered spooky times.. right about now. To be honest, I don’t think NO ONE could have prepared us for this bad boy. What am I talking about? Well if you don’t know by now, I’m talking bout that RONA! Many humans have lived to see several crises and pandemics such as swine flu, AIDS, H1N1, Ebola, and God knows what else. But few have witnessed a Virus that has literally redirected and shutdown the nation within the course of a week. In the words of Kentrell Desean Gaulden better know as NBA Youngboy..”I aint going outside today!”

But enough of the dramatics. Enough of me stating the obvious. How do you survive times like these? How do you have peace with yourself knowing that millions of Americans have been panic buying for the last week or so, leaving little to no essential supplies such as : hand sanitizer, soap, Lysol, gloves, and etc. People are getting this virus, and some are dying. What do you do? Guess what. No one knows the answer. We are literally learning day by day, and step by step; how to survive while living the unknown. However, I can offer some tips and habits that you can adapt during this national crisis that may ease some of the pressure. No, they aren’t the cure to COVID 19. But they may help reassure some peace you need during this stressful time.

  1. Stick with the facts: There has been so much FALSE information put out during the pandemic. And if there was a time when fake news was not needed the most, this is definitely the time. I saw some weird thread on Twitter saying that coronavirus is directly airborne and that if you breath the same air as someone with it then this, that, and more will happen. That type of info is enough to give you a panic attack. And YOU, is people like ME! If it aint from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a CREDIBLE news outlet (you choose your poison such), or another well informed source(like your local government)..I wouldn’t trust it. This isn’t the time to be conspiracy theorist either. I don’t think anyone BUT God himself has an explanation for what is going on. I don’t think any Twitter thread can help anyone be at ease at this point, unless it is positive and holds some type of credible weight.

  2. Please relax: I mean this in every way applicable. I’ve been seeing many posts saying people should be developing side hustles and ETC. So I’m going to say this. If you’d like to do so, do it! I know first hand that boredom creates creativity. However, don’t feel pressured into making an online business overnight, creating a blog, or selling some mink eyelashes. The majority of the business owners pushing this agenda took months and even years to build their platforms. Also, times of uncertainty like this can create anxiety, lack of motivation, and sadly.. depression in most individuals. People are without jobs, going to work and terrified, or flat out worried. Again, this is a crazy predicament. So I beg you to be kind to yourself if you don’t do anything else. Take long showers and baths. Do some facial masks and exfoliate your skin. Read those books on the shelves that’s collecting dust. Take a walk around the block or park… but not too long. Open a window--- but just for a little while. Gather with a couple of friends who are NOT sick, but not too many (or Ima report you to the CDC). Please just don’t think too hard, exert too much energy, or force yourself to do anything at this time. The isolation is enough already. This forced rest may help reset some of us and we didn’t intend for it to do so.
